Development of Baby Personal Care Products
Seeking to formulate his own line of diaper rash ointment, a potential client contacted Chemir. After discussing his target product characteristics and providing three competitors’ ointments, we developed a formula based on these characteristics, and produced pilot scale batches for production. Soon after, the client requested two more products, a baby bath and lotion. Our client was able to produce a full line of baby care products based on his target characteristics.
Formulation Support
A customer formulating a natural personal care product requested Chemir’s help. They needed analytical testing on a band-aid removal product to gain competitive formulation information. The active ingredient was mineral spirits, which although natural, can contain toxic chemicals. After performing preliminary research and consulting supplier formularies, Chemir’s formulation scientist suggested using an extract from a natural source and a safer and more effective ingredient. The customer was pleased with the final natural product that removed bandages and other adhesives with ease.
Contaminant Investigation
An importer of candles was concerned about off-gassing of cyanide gas. Previous testing of the candles suggested that the combustion products contained carbon and nitrogen. We combusted the candle wax, collected the combustion gasses and performed a cyanide-specific UV colormetric method. No cyanide was detected in the client’s samples.
