A Closer Look at Paints, Coatings and Inks

Ypsilanti, Michigan - May 24, 2005 - The paint, coatings and ink experts at Chemir Analytical Services have a new tool for investigating product problems: a Zeiss Axio Imager Z1m optical microscope. Operating at magnifications up to 1000x, the instrument includes a 12MP camera, bright and dark field capability, and a hot stage for observing melting or reactivity. The chemists will now be able to observe coatings phase differences, measure particle size shapes and distribution, as well as measure layers in transparent samples.

"We are pleased with the addition of this valuable scientific instrument to our Michigan facility, especially due to this location''s focus on the coatings industries", says Dr. Fred Willard, Vice President - Technology. "This powerful microscope will help us better solve problems such as paint contamination or paint film failures." Manufacturers of paints, coatings and inks rely on outside laboratories for more sophisticated analytical instrumentation and technical expertise
