Chemir Analytical Services is the industry leader in the deformulation of products and materials. Also known as reverse engineering, deformulation is the separation, identification and quantitation of ingredients in a formulation. Our experienced chemists have performed deformulations on hundreds of home, heatlh and beauty products.
Deformulation analysis uses instrumental techniques and conventional extraction methods to identify and semi-quantify the components of a complex mixture. The components may include fillers, stabilizers, lubricants, antioxidants, etc. Although we do not guarantee a "cookbook recipe", our analysis, in most instances, identifies the chemical class of major and minor components. A computer library search is also performed when needed to locate the trade names of similar, commercially-available materials.
We have successfully deformulated a variety of products such personal care and consumer products as:
Our clients often come to us with knowledge of the types of ingredients in their target formula, such as the wetting agent, co-solvent or surfactant. Using our client's information along with our scientific expertise we can create a working "recipe" that meets a variety of needs, including:
Our experienced chemists are kept up-to-date with the latest methods and have developed techniques for unraveling complicated formulations.
Deformulation analysis of commercial products is provided for informational purposes only. Chemir Analytical Services strongly recommends review of state and federal laws, trademarks, copyrights and patent situations by the customer prior to use of such information.
