What's New at Chemir Analytical Services

New Chemists

We welcome two new chemists to our laboratory, John Menz and Kristy Carey. John is an analytical research chemist with over ten years of experience with GC and HPLC instrumentation. John’s background in pharmaceutical analysis and cGMP projects are an asset to Chemir’s problem solving services to the pharma industry.

Kristy is a 2009 Chemistry graduate of Truman State University in Kirksville, MO. As an undergraduate she spent some time rebuilding gas chromatographs, and a summer at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln working with high vacuum surface chemistry studying transition metal oxides.

Instrumentation

Chemir Analytical Services has recently purchased a new Agilent 1100 HPLC, with both spectrophotometric and florescence detection systems. The addition of this instrument will increase our capabilities for materials identification and deformulation.

We have also recently acquired a dissolution apparatus, Distek Model 2100A with a Thermocirculator TCS-0200 which fits in with the USP <711> Apparatus 2 - a paddle formed from a blade and a shaft used for stirring element. We will be using the instrument for future investigations of disintegrating and non-disintegrating tablets.

Grease Trap Accreditation

We are in the process of obtaining Canadian certification for testing grease traps and expect to be accredited by September 2009. This will be in addition to our current grease trap certification of ISO 17025, PDI and IAPMO. We are capable of testing units less than 10 GPM to 100 GPM.   Chemir Analytical Services has been providing grease trap testing services for certification for over 20 years.
